St Mary's Church, Moseley, Birmingham
Can anyone tell me if the front gates were made by the Bromsgrove Guild - they were a gift to the church by a Miss Tippetts in 1934. We can find correspondence about the iron handrails that seem to be contemporary to the gates between the Church and the Bromsgrove Guild which puts them on site at the right time...
I seem to be having some problems attaching the picture of the gates but if anyone wants a picture I can e-mail it - the photo was taken back in the day when they actually closed - puts it around the 1970's.

'The Bromsgrove Guild: An Illustrated History' edited by Quintin Watt and published by the Bromsgrove Society in 1999, says on page 114 - 'Moseley, Birmingham. St. Mary's Church has wrought iron gates at the base of a flight of steps which lead to the door.' So, yes the gates were indeed made by the Guild. Many thanks for your response we have now ordered the book! There had been an unsubstantiated rumours about the gates being linked to the Buckingham Palace Gates through the Bromsgrove Guild, now we have the proof! If you are interested in how we get on with the restoration project I would be happy to add your details to our contact list - let me know. There are links between our Church and Bromsgrove going back to its initial establishment - you may be interested in reading the information on the attached link written by our resident local history / church history expert.
