The Bromsgrove Societywas formed in 1980. Since that date the Society has endeavoured to address all aspects of planning both built and environmental in the District. Representation has been made at Planning Enquiries and all planning applications are carefully monitored.

  • The Environment Committee has undertaken tree surveys and bulb planting. Recently supported in a survey with Worcestershire Wildlife Trust to monitor voles. Promoted restoration of the church steps in St.John's Street leading to the Church, installed plaques to commemorate medieval crosses, promoted restoration of Lickey drinking fountain and marked the anniversary of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the bi-centenary of William Creuze.
  • Local History Group holds a programme of meetings on local topics and has produced books and other publications including the Bromsgrove Rousler, a local history magazine every December.
  • The Bromsgrove Lecture attracts a large audience and is given by an expert in the field ranging from talks on historic houses/gardens/and new structures.

There is a competition for the outstanding architecture in the district culminating in a plaque to be displayed on the winning entry(ies).

The Society has to date erected six town signs, on entrance roads to the town.

Donations have been made to Avoncroft Museum, St. John's Church and St. Peter's Church.

Plaques have been installed in the town to mark the Medieval Crosses with a definitive board in the High Street.

Seats have been sited in the play areas on the Recreation Ground and in Sanders Park.
