The artist's impression of the proposed new cinema building has drawn the usual criticism that any new build attracts. Often this is because the drawing is misleading, as in the case of Selfridge's in B'ham, which implied that the building would loom over St. Martin's Church, when in fact there is some distance between them.
So my question is, are there other drawings available to view?
Are there, in fact other architect's designs in consideration? When one looks at the photos of the old Town Hall on the site, then compares that to the photo of the current building, demolition of Blockbusters cannot seem to come to soon. The current building is a hideous 1960's / 1970's cube.
The Society has an opportunity to tell the developer's of it's award scheme. They may feel it is worth a little extra effort to create a building worthy of a plaque. That would give them kudos in their field, and good advertising / publicity.
