The Bromsgrove Society was formed in 1980
and since that date the Society has endeavoured to address all aspects
of planning both built and environmental in the District. Representation
has been made at Planning Enquiries and all planning applications are
carefully monitored.
The Landscape Panel has undertaken tree
surveys/planting/daffodil planting. Recently involved in a survey with
Worcestershire Wildlife Trust to monitor voles. Undertaking a detailed
survey of the church steps in St.John's Street leading to the Church.
Local History Group holds a programme
of meetings on local topics and has produced books and other publications.
The Annual Lecture attracts a large audience
and is given by an expert in the field ranging from talks on historic
houses/gardens/and new structures. There is a competition for the outstanding
architecture in the district culminating in a plaque to be displayed
on the winning entry (ies). The Society celebrated the Queen's Golden
Jubilee with a Town Sign and a concert was held in November 2003 to
raise funds towards further sign(s). It is intended to erect similar
signs on the entrance roads to the town so there is still work to be
done on this project.
The Society has a membership of approximately
650 and will be pleased to welcome more people to it ranks.
